🌹 Gender is More Than Genitals: A Kid-Friendly (and Body-Wise) Explanation 🌹

For the young ones—and the grown-ups learning, too.

Let’s start simple:

🩵 Your body parts do not tell the whole story of who you are.

When you’re born, a doctor usually looks at your body and says,

“This is a boy!” or “This is a girl!”

They’re making a guess based on what they can see.

But who you are?

👉🏽 That’s something bigger.

👉🏽 Something deeper.

👉🏽 Something only you can truly know.

Gender is not just about what’s outside.

🌍 It’s about identity.

🌎 It’s about your biology, your spirit, and the way your inner world feels true to you.

Some people’s identity matches what the doctor guessed.

Some people’s identity becomes clearer over time.

Some people realize they are somewhere beautifully in-between.

✨All of it is natural. All of it is real.✨

And here’s something even more important:

There are parts of your body and identity that no one can see.

🌸 Hormones that help shape your experience of life.

🌸 Chromosomes deep inside your cells.

🌸 Layers of biology that don’t always fit simple patterns.

Most people hear about XX or XY chromosomes—

but nature has never been that tidy.

Some people are born with XXY chromosomes.

Some are born intersex, meaning their bodies carry a blend of male and female traits.

🦎 Intersex people have always existed.

🦎 They are living proof that nature is not afraid of complexity.

🦎 And neither should we be.

Nobody can identify you better than you can.

🦋 You don’t have to fit into someone else’s box.

🦋 You don’t have to rush to label every part of yourself.

And while you are still exploring your identity,

you can find a grounded truth right here:

🐝 You are a human being, living a human experience.

🐝 You don’t have to have it all figured out to be whole.

👉🏽You are already complete.

Already real.

Already enough.👈🏽

When it comes to how people connect with others—what we call sexuality—

there’s a beautiful spectrum there too.

Asexuality—where someone doesn’t feel romantic or sexual attraction in the ways others might expect—is not wrong.

It’s part of the diversity that helps life thrive.

Across the animal kingdom—in plants, fish, reptiles, fungi—you’ll find beings living outside rigid categories.

Nature loves variety.

Diversity makes life strong.

You are part of that strength.

When we teach children that gender ≠ genitals, we teach them:

👌🏽 To trust their inner knowing.

👌🏽 To honor the beauty of their biology and their becoming.

👌🏽 To offer grace to what is still growing.

👌🏽 To celebrate male, female, and the sacred in-betweens.

You are not a mistake.

You are not lost.

You are becoming more of yourself every day.

And that, little one (and big one),

is a miracle.
