7 Years — And a New Chapter Ahead
Seven years ago, Doug and I began the wild journey of choosing to live life together. And like most big choices, we had no way of knowing what was ahead of us.
We’ve laughed, cried, parented through sleepless nights, danced through celebrations, traveled and moved—a lot, navigated loss, and weathered hurts that tested not only our relationship, but who we are as humans. And through it all, we continue to not only be a team, but we are great friends.
This year marks seven years of marriage, but more than that—it marks seven years of devotion to a healthy family, to growth, and to doing the hard things with heart. It marks seven years of choosing to show up for one another, especially when life asked more of us than we expected.
As we prepare to move our family north to Michigan and begin building out a dream on 10 acres of land, I’m deeply proud of what we’re co-creating. A radical space where our children can run barefoot, naked and wild, where goats and chickens roam freely, where family dinners and campfires happen often, and where healing, respect, and joy are the foundations of our shared piece of Earth.
This next chapter looks a little different than most would expect—and that’s okay. We’re not here to follow a script. We’re here to write a new story. One where co-parenting is rooted in kindness, where friendship is priority, where village is alive, where we honor the earth, and where our connection can honor the time we have had together—even if it is changing.
There’s no competition here.
No bitterness.
Just two humans, committed to doing right by the life we’ve built, to one-another, and the little humans we get to raise. We’ve let go of the old definitions—and instead, we’ve chosen to peacefully rewrite the future.
We’ve chosen village.
We’ve chosen continuity without confinement.
So here’s to seven years of life.
To the trust and reverence it takes to rewrite a story together.
To the land that will hold our family through all its future seasons.
And to the forever friendship that continues—one rooted in respect, shared dreams, and eternal teamwork.
We’re building something different.
And we will be overjoyed to share it with you when the time is right.
