🌿 Legacy of Love No. 5: Amanda Nguyen

Because rewriting the rules can save lives.

Amanda Nguyen is a civil rights activist, survivor, astronaut-in-training, and the founder of Rise—a global nonprofit that has helped change laws for over 100 million people.

After surviving rape and facing a justice system that offered more confusion than care, Amanda stepped outside of the box to create a path to justice:

She rewrote the law.

She drafted the Survivors’ Bill of Rights, legislation that guarantees sexual assault survivors the right to have their rape kits preserved, to be informed of results, and to access information about their cases. This bill passed unanimously in the U.S. Congress in 2016—a near-miracle in today’s political climate.

And she didn’t stop there.

Through Rise, Amanda has helped pass over 70 laws across the U.S. and abroad, expanding protections for survivors on a global scale. Her work has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, and her voice has become a guiding light in the fight for justice and dignity.

She’s also a scientist, a space dreamer, and a woman who continues to defy the boxes the world tries to place around survivors. She once said:

“Survivors are not broken—we are phoenixes, rising from the ashes.”

As a survivor myself, and as a mother raising children in a world that often fails to protect the most vulnerable, Amanda’s courage inspires me.

She reminds me that our stories have power,

that policy can be personal,

and that love sometimes looks like legislation.

Amanda Nguyen didn’t just speak up—she reshaped the system so that others wouldn’t have to suffer in silence.

She is bold. Brilliant. Tender. Unstoppable.

Thank you, Amanda.

For your voice, your fire, your vision.

You are a blazing Legacy of Love.
