When the Leader Refuses Accountability, Others Carry the Weight
Cults, broken systems, and ego-driven movements refuse it.
And those closest to the vision are often left carrying the consequences.
đź‘€ I know this because I lived it.
In the past, I worked for someone I trusted—a mentor and coach who became my employer.
🌸 I believed in the mission we shared.
🌸 I trusted this person with many of my best ideas, my heart, my vision.
🌸 I shared dreams I had been growing in private—believing we were building something aligned and meaningful.
But instead of partnership, I watched my ideas be absorbed into their business.
I watched my trust be leveraged, not honored.
I told myself it would become okay.
That this was growing pains—
and it was, but not in the way I thought.
Over time, they secretly placed me in charge of almost everything—
while disappearing from their business and continuing to delay sharing the tools, support, or pay to make success possible.
This person showed up to teach when it served them, but abandoned our communication.
❌ Calls went unanswered.
❌ Meetings were scheduled and canceled again and again—often after they were already a no-show.
❌ Support was promised in multiple forms, but never delivered.
And I knew I could not hold it all long-term.
🤎 I protected the business because I cared about the mission.
🤎 I kept trying, kept covering, kept holding it all together—as my own reputation began to suffer.
🤎 I was holding the thread of patience and trust in someone who showed a lack of integrity—and that is my own fault.
I did not want to believe my eyes,
because it hurt.
And when the cracks appeared?
👉🏽The blame fell on me.
Not because I had failed—
but because someone else’s failure was too painful for them to claim.
👉🏽 They fled from their clients and myself repeatedly.
When I asked for honest ownership of mistakes—for transparency that could protect my name—
❌ I was met with silence, deflection, blame, and ultimately abandonment.
❌ I was replaced by someone who I had mentored and befriended—while I was removed and projected upon.
❌ I felt hurt, sad, confused and deeply betrayed—and I learned a valuable lesson:
✨When someone is telling you who they are, but showing you someone else—trust your eyes and your intuition over their words.✨
And when you find that line between your vision and reality, many followers who also held the vision with trust will not want to accept your truth.
They are not ready.
This is what happens when leadership fails but refuses to admit it:
🗣️ Those who believe most deeply are the ones hurt the worst.
🗣️Those who pour themselves into a mission become scapegoats when reality can’t be ignored.
🗣️Loyalty is weaponized against the very people holding up the system.
And we are seeing this happen now on a much bigger scale.
🔥 A president blames judges, law enforcement, and his own insiders when outcomes don’t serve him.
🔥 Project 2025 architects push radical policies while Trump claims “no knowledge” when questioned.
🔥 Followers are left defending contradictions, scandals, and failures they had no power to prevent.
This is not leadership.
This is a cult pattern.
And it demands more from all of us:
🤎 More honesty.
🤎 More critical thought.
🤎 More courage to walk away from systems that ask us to sacrifice ourselves for someone else’s ego.
If you are feeling the cracks, if you are tired of carrying someone else’s broken promises,
you are not weak.
You are waking up.
Protecting someone else’s illusion at the cost of your truth is not loyalty.
🫶🏽 It is self-abandonment.
🫶🏽 We deserve better.
🫶🏽 Our communities deserve better.
🫶🏽 Our future deserves better.
We were never meant to be pawns in someone else’s performance of power.
We were meant to be leaders of something new.
It’s not too late.
Your voice matters.
Your truth matters.
Your integrity matters.
And together—
we are rising.
