Fear is a potent force

And history shows us how deeply it has been used to control.

Whether we’re talking about the violence of religious conquest, the torture of women labeled as witches, or the way modern institutions perpetuate terror through legislation, language, and media—fear is the oldest tactic in the book.

From a nervous system perspective, it makes sense.

Fear works—because it targets the most primal part of us.

Our “lizard brain,” the brainstem, is hardwired for survival.

When we sense threat, we regress to black-and-white thinking. Binaries. Extremes.

Victimizing and Villifying.

Everything becomes fight, flee, or freeze.

And in that state, we can’t access higher reasoning. We can’t empathize. We can’t imagine new ways forward.

We just react.

That’s how authoritarianism creeps in.

That’s how oppression is normalized.

That’s how genocide is justified.

Not because people are inherently evil—

But because their bodies are trapped in survival.

And so…

Those of us who can regulate…

Those of us who can breathe deeply, speak truth gently, hold nuance, listen with love…

We are being called.

Called to be anchors.

To be bridges.

To be the regulated nervous systems that help co-regulate others out of fear.

Because fear spreads like fire.

But so does love.

So does truth.

So does the quiet, steady glow of someone who chooses presence over panic.

We are not here to debate religion.

We are here to say:

Anything that begins in terror, silences the body, and severs connection from truth, is not sacred.

And anything that grounds us, connects us, and invites us back into the wholeness of our humanity—

That is a path worth walking.

Now more than ever, the world needs compassionate, courageous voices.

Voices that say:

“I will not abandon my body. I will not abandon yours.”

“I will not feed fear. I will stand in love.”

So let us regulate.

Let us return to the breath.

Let us speak from the grounded core of truth.

Let us be the calm in the chaos.

Because that is how we dismantle the patterns.

That is how we change the story.

Not with fear—but with fierce, embodied love.
