🌿 Legacy of Love No. 1: Tarana Burke
The woman who changed the landscape so more of us could be heard.
Tarana Burke began her work not in the spotlight, but in the quiet corners of community—where real healing happens. Long before #MeToo became a viral movement, Tarana was walking alongside survivors, creating space for voices that had long been silenced, and reminding us all that our stories matter.
She gave the world a phrase—“me too”—but more than that, she gave us a way back to ourselves.
I am a survivor of violent rape.
And for years, I kept my story buried deep within.
The silence was suffocating. The shame was heavy.
And when I did finally speak it, it cracked open something raw, terrifying, and freeing all at once.
Though my healing journey was my own, I hold deep gratitude for the cultural shift Tarana sparked.
Because of her work, more women are heard. More stories are held. More spaces feel safe enough to speak what once felt unspeakable.
And now, as I raise my daughter, I carry a piece of Tarana’s legacy forward every time I affirm my daughter’s right to boundaries, truth, and sovereignty over her own body.
Tarana Burke didn’t just launch a movement—
She changed the soil we’re growing in.
She made it more possible for the next generation to rise without burying themselves first.
Thank you, Tarana.
For your fire.
For your tenderness.
For making room—for all of us.
You are a true Legacy of Love.
