The SAVE Act has reached the Senate.
It sounds protective—but what it really does is make it harder for millions of eligible Americans to vote.
If passed by the Senate, this bill would require voters to show documentary proof of citizenship—like a birth certificate or passport—just to register.
But here’s the thing:
Not everyone has those papers on hand. Not everyone can get them easily.
Especially…
• Women whose names have changed due to marriage or divorce
• Elders who’ve lost documents across time and transition
• Chronically ill folks and caregivers who depend on mail-in voting
• Disabled and rural voters who rely on outreach and online tools
• Employed individuals who don’t have the flexibility in their schedules to take time off to stand in line.
Mail-in registration, voter drives, and online options?
This bill could end them all.
And for what?
To stop a problem that almost never happens—noncitizen voting is already illegal and incredibly rare.
The “voter fraud” lie has been out of hand for quite some time.
Our voices matter. Our votes matter.
Let’s not let barriers be built around our most sacred civic right.
Call your Senators. Tell them to vote NO on the SAVE Act.

Because protecting democracy shouldn’t mean locking people out of it.
Especially the ones already at the margins.
