What Is Body-Wise Parenting?
(Let’s start at the roots…)
Body-wise parenting is the name I’ve chosen to describe a specific style of parenting—one rooted in respect for the body, trust in its wisdom, and the belief that every child is already whole.
It’s a gentle, grounded approach that honors your child’s entire being—not just their behavior, but their body, their needs, and their natural rhythms.
It’s parenting that makes space for…
• Questions about bodies without shame
• Natural urges and curiosities without panic
• Farts, fluids, and feelings without punishment
• Affection and boundaries without confusion
• Identity and expression without assumptions
Because here’s the truth:
Our kids are constantly communicating through their bodies.
Their emotions, their meltdowns, their wiggles, their silences—it’s all somatic language.
Body-wise parenting means listening.
Not fixing.
Not policing.
Just witnessing, supporting, guiding.
It’s a practice. A remembering. A rewiring.
Especially for those of us who grew up being told:
“That’s inappropriate.”
“Go wipe that off.”
“Don’t talk about that.”
“Stop crying or I’ll give you something to cry about.”
(And let’s give grace and gratitude to our own parents. They did their best.)
This is a new way.
A rooted way.
One that invites you back into your own body too—so you can meet your child where they are, fully and freely.
If this resonates… stay close.
I’ll be sharing more about raising whole humans—without shame, fear, or disconnection.
